Expansion Tank overview
An expansion tank absorbs the volume increase of water or thermal oil as it heats up, keeping system pressure within safe limits. An incorrectly sized expansion tank causes the safety valve to open repeatedly, water loss and damage to the boiler.
We calculate according to system volume, static head and operating temperatures, and manufacture the right tank for central heating, high-temperature hot water and thermal oil systems.
Correct sizing
Pressure fluctuations prevented by sizing to the system volume.
Open / closed
For older open systems and pressurised closed systems.
Thermal oil compatible
Nitrogen-blanketed design option for thermal oil systems.
Safety fittings
Pressure gauge, safety valve and drain connections.

Frequently asked questions
How is expansion tank volume calculated?
It is calculated from the total system water volume, the expansion coefficient of water (depending on operating temperature), the pre-charge pressure and the safety valve pressure.
